Couples and Individual Psychotherapy and Supervision in Seaford, East Sussex Online & Face to Face

I am a UKCP registered Group-Analytic psychotherapist, qualified since 2005 who has undertaken additional training in Family Therapy and Couples Psychotherapy and who now also sees individuals in private practice. I have been working as a supervisor since 2018.

My first training was as a Group-Analytic Psychotherapist over a five year period, leading to UKCP registration in 2005. Post-qualification, I initially worked on training courses running experiential groups and teaching group dynamics on courses in East Sussex and Kent. I then undertook an in-house training in couples counselling, seeing couples at the same time and to accompany this studied on courses at the Institute of Family Therapy and Tavistock Relationships in Family and Couples Psychotherapy respectively.

The model I work with primarily is the psychodynamic one, informed by my group training, though I incorporate aspects from systemic, psychoanalytic and attachment-based models freely and where they seem appropriate.

From 2010 to 2012 I worked at a group therapy centre, running groups and assessing clients for a number of groups and which brought me into contact with a broad range of people, honing my assessment skills considerably.

From 2012 to 2016 I divided my time between working at a counselling charity and with individuals and couples and with both these for MIND as part of an IAPT contract, sometimes for twenty or more sessions, though the norm was more like half of this. I began my private practice too, working both long-term and short term.

I have worked across a range of cultures, ethnicities, sexualities and class backgrounds, especially in Birmingham where I lived from 2016 to 2021 all in a thriving private practice. The practice survived the pandemic and the switch to online working in March 2020 and I continue to work online today after moving to the South coast in July 2021.

Having worked in education for many years with adults I am aware of the pressures on them of assessment, appraisal as well as those of juggling work, training and home life and the impact on relationships.
